Research work on “Past, Present and Future of Sugar Industry in Bangladesh: An Empirical Study”
BEDO conducted a research work on “Past, Present and Future of Sugar Industry in Bangladesh: An Empirical Study” under the financial assistance of Bangladesh Social Science Research Council (BSSRC) of Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning. The research work was started in April 2010 and completed in May 2011.The research work was conducted in the sugar mills areas of Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Gaibandha, Rajshahi, Pabna, Faridpur, Kushtia and Chuadanga districts. So far 200 sugarcane farmers, 65 molasses producers, 75 high officials of sugar mills, 10 officials of Sugarcane Research Institute, 50 CBA leaders of sugar mills and 75 workers of sugar mills were interviewed through 7 structured questionnaires.
