The Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) program

The Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) program is the largest social safety net program of govt. of Bangladesh that exclusively targets ultra poor households. About 750000 direct ultra-poor participants across the country receive monthly food ration for the households and a development support service (inclusive of life skill and income generating skills training, savings and access to credit) for a cycle in 486 Upazilas. BEDO has started VGD program with Ministry of Women & Children Affairs since May 2013. The program activity in carried out at Niamotpur thana, Naogaon District, where 2046 VGD card holder women depositing saving, receiving training on social issue and IGAs.
